Prague: reading a layered city
Prague grew on both banks of the Vltava. The Castle, Malá Strana, Old Town and New Town retained different functions and characters. Bridges and climbs matter as much as façades: they connected distinct places into a city.
The chapters move from medieval signs to Baroque architecture, national memory and contemporary art. The investigation and characters are invented for the walk. Dates, architectural observations and historical explanations concern real places and include sources.
Friends suggested winter markets, music, underground spaces and day trips. These remain as main stops or optional visits. Holiday hours, events and seasonal access must be checked for the actual date.
